Training Assistant

Salary range is $30,576 - $39,708 per year, based on experience.

Job Description: The Missouri State Public Defender is hiring a Training Assistant in the Columbia Director's Office. This individual will assist the training department in the overall administration of training functions. Duties will include organizing training events; developing training materials, including advertisements, agendas, and other program materials; preparing newsletters; coordinating social media functions and enhancing MSPD’s online presence. The assistant will also be expected to maintain digital files; perform data entry in our online database; coordinate logistics for training events, including booking flights and making lodging arrangements; and perform other training functions to assist with departmental needs.

Individual must be familiar with social media and audiovisual technology, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-motivated and willing to work on a collaborative team, and support the mission of the public defender to provide zealous representation to our clients. Graphic design experience is a plus. Position will require occasional overnight travel to attend training events.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include graduation from college with preferred specialization in education, the law, business, social sciences or closely related area, plus two years professional or technical employment which involved the use of training techniques, teaching experience, event planning, advertising or technological and social media applications. Graduate studies can be substituted for one year of the work experience requirement. Relevant work experience can be substituted for the educational requirements.
