Case Contracting Assistant
Job Description: The Case Contracting Assistant works under the direction of the Case Contracting Senior Manager or other designated attorney and is a responsible support position, coordinating a variety of administrative tasks to facilitate efficient office operations. The individual serves as case contracting liaison to other MSPD departments, courthouse personnel, contract counsel, and outside vendors. Position will be located in the Columbia Director’s Office.
Duties include, among others: providing clerical support to office staff; communicating with contract attorneys and their staff and clients; preparing letters, email correspondence, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheets, Case.Net, and the MSPD Case Information database; handling confidential information; assisting contract counsel in locating and securing funding for court reporters, investigators, and other experts in contracted cases; and reviewing vendor invoices for accuracy and preparing for payment approval. Supervision is received from the Case Contracting Senior Manager; however, the employee is expected to exercise initiative and independence in the performance of job responsibilities.
Qualifications: Three years of technical or professional work experience in clerical or general office support work in a legal environment, with a preference for applicants with criminal law office experience.
