CDU Appellate Attorney

Salary: $5,316/month

Job Description: This position is dedicated to the representation of Public Defender clients in Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) commitment cases under §632.480 RSMo. The SVP law is a civil involuntary commitment procedure including trial by jury in probate court. The appeal attorney will be responsible for handling all civil appeals from jury verdicts declaring clients of the SVP team to be sexually violent predators. As appeals occur in all three appellate districts of the Missouri Courts of Appeal, some overnight travel for oral arguments may be expected.

Office location can be in Columbia, St. Louis, or Kansas City.

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Missouri Bar.
