Job Description: Individual reports to the District Defender and acts as office manager for the local office. Will manage front desk duties, including answering phones, and greeting clients. Duties also include opening/closing case files; coordinating office service activities including tracking budget and expenditure information; processing invoices and directing communication with vendors; conducting inventory; and ordering supplies.
This position entails a full range of clerical support for an appellate/postconviction office. This includes opening and closing of case files, contacting clerks, court reporters and other court personnel to order/obtain necessary records to prepare legal files, transcripts and other documents necessary to the processing of appellate and postconviction cases. Responsible for typing and copying of correspondence, appellate briefs, postconviction motions and records. Will also make travel arrangements, index case files and perform clerical support to the District Defender and other staff attorneys.
Minimum qualifications: One year of professional office management experience, demonstrated by supervision of staff or highly responsible administrative duties; Or, five years progressively responsible clerical/office experience required. Post-secondary education may be substituted for minimum experience requirements.
