District Defender – St. Louis Capital Office

Salary: $7,470/month. Individuals will also receive a capital differential of $500/month as a capital associate or $1,000/month as a capital lead.

Job Description: The District Defender serves as the managing attorney for the Eastern Capital Office in St. Louis. This six-attorney office handles the preparation and trial of guilt and penalty phases of capital murder cases throughout the state. In addition to caseload responsibilities, the District Defender is responsible for:

• Case assignments
• Monitoring employee performance
• Hiring
• Development and implementation of office policies

Qualifications: Must be a member of the Missouri Bar. Management experience preferred; murder trial experience preferred.
