Investigator – Appellate/PCR
Salary: $3,354/month
Job Description: The Investigator will be responsible for assisting attorneys in investigating post-conviction actions in Missouri trial courts and providing litigation support at the trial court and appellate court levels. Duties include:
- Searching for and interviewing necessary witnesses
- Serving subpoenas
- Retrieving work records, mental health records, trial files, and other documents necessary to advance clients’ litigation
- Visiting clients in various correctional facilities in Missouri
- Reviewing pleadings and transcripts
- Obtaining documents necessary to compile the appellate record
- Categorizing trial files and exhibits
- Filing pleadings in and retrieving documents from circuit and appellate courts
- Performing other duties necessary for litigation support to clients and attorneys
A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required due to the travel requirements of the position.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, journalism, social work, or a closely related field; or high school graduation equivalency plus four years of experience in one of the following areas:
- Activities related to investigations or closely related areas
- Clerical experience, of which two years must have involved specialized work in investigative activities
