Investigator – Appellate/PCR

Salary: $3,354/month

Job Description: Individual will be responsible for assisting attorneys in investigating post-conviction actions in Missouri trial courts, and will provide litigation support at the trial court and appellate court levels.

The position will entail investigating factual claims in the case including searching for and interviewing necessary witnesses; serving subpoenas; retrieving work records, mental health records, trial files, and other documents necessary to advance clients’ litigation; and visiting clients in various correctional facilities in Missouri. The position entails review of pleadings and transcripts; obtaining documents necessary to compile the appellate record; categorizing trial files and exhibits; filing pleadings in and retrieving documents from circuit and appellate courts; and other matters necessary for litigation support to client and attorney. Due to the travel requirements of the position, a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are necessary.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, journalism, social work or closely related field OR high school graduation equivalency plus four years of experience in one of the following areas: 1) activities related to investigations or closely related areas; 2) four years of clerical experience, of which two years must have involved specialized work in investigative activities.
